(Jan. 10, 2012 Stillwater, OK) – In recent years, technology-based economic development has become more and more important for Oklahoma State University as it seeks to modernize and refine its traditional land grant mission. To support this effort, the Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer has renamed OSU’s Office of Intellectual Property Management the OSU Technology Development Center. The newly established TDC will manage all of OSU’s patenting and licensing activities. The TDC will engage faculty through the Technology Business Development and CoStart programs as well as promote connections with alumni entrepreneurs. As did OIPM, the TDC will also continue to partner with other commercialization units on campus such as Cowboys Technologies within the Center for Innovation and Economic Development, the entrepreneurship programs of the Riata Center, and other university-wide efforts concerned with enhancing industrial interactions.
OSU faculty members wondering about the potential of commercializing their OSU technology should contact Dr. Steven Price, associate vice president for technology development and director of the TDC.
More information about the TDC is also available here: http://ip.okstate.edu/about-tdc
