National/ International Fellows
- Allen Apblett, professor in the OSU Department of Chemistry, was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in 2015.
- K. Darrell Berlin, professor in the OSU Department of Chemistry, was named a National Academy of Inventors Fellow in 2017.
- Charles Bunting, profesor in the OSU School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) by the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society in 2018.
- Dwayne Cartmell, professor in Department of Agricultural Communications, Education and Leadership, became a Fellow of the American Association for Agricultural Education in 2021.
- Virginia Charter, associate professor in the OSU Division of Engineering Technology was named a fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, class of 2021.
- Norbert Delatte, professor in the OSU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was named a fellow of the American Concrete Institute in 2009 and a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2011.
- Keith Garbutt, dean of the Oklahoma State University Honors College, was named a fellow of the National Collegiate Honors Council in 2021.
- Sunderesh Heragu, professor in the OSU School of Industrial Engineering and Management, was named a fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers in 2004.
- Tyler Ley, associate professor in the OSU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was inducted as a fellow of the American Ceramics Society in 2017 and named a fellow of the American Concrete Institute in 2017.
- Lin Liu, regents professor in the OSU Department of Physiological Sciences, was named a fellow of the American Physiological Society in 2019.
- Bruce Russell, professor in the OSU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, became a fellow of the American Concrete Institute in 2003.
- Randy Seitsinger, professor in the OSU School of Architecture was elected to the 2015 College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects.
- Ramesh Sharda, regents professor in the OSU Department of Management Science was inducted as a fellow of the Association for Information Systems in 2019. He was also inducted as a fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences in 2018.
- Paul Tikalsky, dean of the OSU College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, became a fellow of the American Concrete Institute in 1996 and was named a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2011.
- Ranji Vaidyanathan, professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, was elected to the rank of Fellow for the National Academy of Inventors in 2020. He was also inducted as a Fellow into the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering in 2021.
- Gary Yen, regents professor in the OSU School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society in 2009. He was also named a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology in 2012.
- Jeffrey Young, professor in the OSU School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society in 2008.
- Weili Zhang, professor in the OSU School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named a fellow of the Optical Society of America in 2015.
~Typically, being inducted as a Fellow in a professional organization is an honor bestowed on the best of one’s profession and occurs through election by one’s peers. Individuals are nominated in recognition of their distinguished contributions to their disciplines through such avenues as publications, applied research, teaching, administration of academic programs, contributing to the public awareness of the field, and leadership activities within professional organizations. To be considered, there is a detailed application process and requirements that must be met.
National/ International Honors and Recognitions – Since 2017
- Ronald Cox Jr., professor in the OSU Department of Human Development and Family Science, received national recognition from the Association of Public Land-Grant Universities’ Board on Human Sciences as the 2020 recipient of the Outstanding Engagement Award, recognizing exceptional creativity and scholarship in outreach, extension, and public service programs.
- Jay Dawes, assistant professor in the OSU School of Kinesiology, Applied Health and Recreation was named the 2021 Tactical Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association in recognition of his contributions to the organization and the field.
- Craig Edwards, professor in Department of Agricultural Communications, Education and Leadership, was recognized with the 2021 Distinguished International Agricultural Educator Award by the American Association for Agricultural Education.
- Sunderesh Heragu, professor in the OSU School of Industrial Engineering and Management, received the 2020 Reed-Apple Award (a lifetime achievement award) by the Material Handling Institute.
- Sam Fuhlendorf, professor in the OSU Department of National Resource Ecology and Management received the International Sustained Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018, from the International Society for Range Management.
- Laura Goodman, assistant professor in the OSU Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management received the 202 International Outstanding Young Range Professional from the International Society for Range Management.
- Shelly Peper Leg, professor in the OSU Department of Agricultural Education, Communication, and Leadership was awarded the U.S. Department of Agriculture’ 2018 National Teaching and Student Engagement award.
- Tyler Ley, associate professor in the OSU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was awarded the 2019 Most Influential People in the Concrete Industry award by Concrete Construction Magazine; the 2018 Research Professor of the Year by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence; the 2017 ACerS Global Ambassador distinction; and the 2017 Marlin J. Knutsen Award from the American Concrete Paving Association.
- Shiretta Ownbey, professor and faculty fellow in the OSU College of Education and Human Sciences, received the 2020 Ellen Swallow Richards Public Service Award, recognizing individuals advancing human sciences, from the Association of Public Land-Grant Universities’ Board on Human Sciences.
- Jon Ramsey, professor in Department of Agricultural Communications, Education and Leadership, was recognized with the 2021 Distinguished Agricultural Teacher Educator Award by the American Association for Agricultural Education.
- Patricia Rayas-Duarte, a cereal chemist for OSU’s Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center was awarded the President’s Volunteer Award in 2018, a national honor presented by Winrock International in recognition of volunteer services.
- Leon Spicer, professor in the OSU Department of Animal and Food Sciences: 2021 recipient of the American Society of Animal Science’s Animal Physiology and Endocrinology Award.
- Kelvin Wang, professor in the OSU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received the 2021 Distinguished Member recognition from the American Society of Civil Engineers and the 2018 Francis C. Turner Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers.
- Gail Wilson, professor in the OSU Department of National Resource Ecology and Management received the 2020 National Career Achievement Award from the Ecological Society of America.
- Weili Zhang, professor in the OSU School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate (Web of Science) in 2021, 2020 and 2019.
